Scouting

Tonight we attended the year-end program for Lizzie's Daisey Girl Scout troop.

There were lots of parents with lots of cameras and the kids got a little tired of posing:

For the program, the girls recited the Girl Scout pledge, sang a song about being a Daisey, and received their badges, and the troop leader recapped the year's activities. In addition, each girl had a speaking part. Lizzie got to define the magenta petal ("respect authority") on the official Daisey badge.

We all enjoyed an ice cream social after the program.

Ribbons and Bows

Today I made a bow holder. I thought it would hold all of the girl's bows, but it only held about half of them.Alaina enjoyed playing with my spare ribbons while I worked. She's naked because she refused clothing and it wasn't worth the fight for me to force her into anything. She happily insisted on wearing shoes though.

She also insisted on wearing ribbons around her waist.

I remember Liz doing the same thing years ago.

10 Days Old

21 Months Old

1 - We hear "MINE!" a lot now.
2 - Alaina likes to play with baby dolls--lately that means diapering them.
3 - Currently, she is learning to play ring-around-the-rosies (from Liz).
4 - She is very chatty, though most of it still sounds like gibberish.
5 - She is pretty much fearless when it comes to playground slides and almost never wants me to catch her at the bottom.
6 - She enjoys showing off her belly button and pointing out other people's facial features.
7 - She dislikes having her teeth brushed but likes having her teeth flossed.
8 - She makes up songs and sings to herself often, much like her older sister.
9 - Laina makes a scrunchy face and says "cheese" when we take her picture.
10 - She regularly draws on herself more than on paper (even if paper is right in front of her).
11 - She still doesn't want us to read to her much, preferring to "read" to us instead.
12 - She continues to remove her shoes in the car, but now she can sometimes put her sandals back on.
13 - Alaina likes to put things in the garbage for us, unfortunately while she's there she sometimes pulls out random treasures.
14 - She puts her finger to her lips and shushes me when I'm singing her go-to-bed song and she doesn't want to go to sleep.
15 - She likes to wear hats.
16 - She is very loud.
17 - She still sleeps with a binky (and, sometimes, a teddy bear).
18 - Loves to play "this little piggy," wrestle with her daddy, and copy her older sister.
19 - She is soft with her baby sister and doesn't seem jealous . . . yet.
20 - Fortunately she will at least try most of the food we put in front of her.
21 - Alaina likes to wear a hooded towel over her clothes, around the house.

Venturing Out

The baby is a week old today so I figured it was time for me to finally get out. Drew and I went on a walk and then on a whim we went to the outlet mall where Andrew got vans for our two youngest girls (of course). It was nice getting out, but it completely wiped me out.

Big Sister Gifts

I meant to get "big sister gifts" for the girls long before Gabrielle was born, but never got around to it so Drew went shopping while I was in the hospital. It was lucky for the girls that he went, not me because he definitely bought more than I would. It was kind of like Christmas in May.One of the things Lizzie received was a razor scooter. She was NOT happy about it. She was very worried that she would not be able to balance. So Andrew took her and a friend, Jordan, took the park last Saturday to try it out. She LOVED it.
