Tights

Lizzie loved wearing tights. Alaina's a bit hit and miss.

Beans, beans, the magical fruit

Alaina wanted black beans for lunch so I gave them to her. When she requested seconds and thirds, I gave them to her. Think I'll regret this later? Sure I will, but at least she got some protien.

Costco Boxes

My girls love, love, LOVE the Costco boxes. Lizzie always begs to take one home. Why buy toys? For Christmas Drew and I should just swing by and pick up some free boxes for the girlies. The Lizzie and Lainey are using the latest round of boxes as little tables and chairs. On one hand it's super cute, on the other hand they fight over them a lot.

FHE - Patchwork Pumpkins

I had a lot of little scraps left over from the tissue pom-pom flowers I made for Lizzie's birthday party. Last Monday night we used them to decorate the girls' pumpkins. I think the family enjoyed this "waste not want not" activity much more than split pea soup I made from other remnants of Lizzie's party. Turns out none of us much care for split pea soup. Go figure.
Laina demonstrates our process: slather on some modge podge, adhere a tiny piece of tissue (if we do this again next year we'll cut bigger pieces), . . .
and slather on some more modge podge.
And then of course I wanted to pose for pictures. Not everyone was excited about this.
Once we were done decorating the pumpkins I had to glue their stems on. Our pumpkins were freebies from a community event a couple weeks ago and we pretty much got the ones from the bottom of the barrel (a.k.a. the unwanted stemless ones). Luckily there were random pumpkinless stems scattered around as well so I was able to collect all the necessary components.
Of course Andrew took the opportunity to smear glue all over his palm because he likes to peel it off and Lizzie quickly followed suit. I'm pretty sure they both enjoyed peeling glue off their hands even more than our actual craft.

Love it

In general we don't like it that all our girls usually end up in bed with us by morning. It wasn't so bad when we had a king-sized bed, but in our current queen-sized one it's just too much. Still it was really sweet to see this Saturday morning after Alaina and I got up. Along the same note, yesterday Liz said to me, "I'm lucky that I have sisters because a sister is a friend that never goes away." Ahhh.

Annual Check Ups

Elizabeth's stats: 7 years old, height 46 1/4" (23%), weight 47 lbs (35%)

Gabrielle's stats: 4 months old, height 24 3/4" (60%), weight 15 lbs 6.5 oz (73%)

It should be noted that Lizzie was 50% for height until about age 3 and then her growth really slowed. Gabby's length is pretty average now, but she could still be a shorty like her sisters. Alaina of course has never been anywhere near 50%.
