We had a
pleasant holiday weekend. We got a lot done around the house on Saturday and even enjoyed a night out. On Sunday my cousin, Wendy, and her fabulous family came over for a
barbecue and shortly before they had to leave my brother, Scott, and his fabulous family arrived.
Andrew has really been enjoying his
barbecue. The rest of the family has really been enjoying his cooking. For our holiday
barbecues he made juicy lucy burgers (cheese melted inside the patty instead of on top). It was his first time making them and I think they are the only kind he'll make from now on. It was my first time having blue cheese on a hamburger (and in) and it was delicious!
My
girls especially loved playing with Scott & Codi's kids. We both have three girls and they seem to get along pretty well. Lainey is actually still asking, "Where Willa?"
Mostly we lounged around the house while the
girlies played together, but on Monday Drew went golfing and the rest of us visited a new (and
FREE!) splash park. Loved it. Can't wait to take the girls back tomorrow. On Monday we also had our friends, the
Pomeroys, over for a
barbecue. We had eight little girls between our three families.
One other thing happened on Monday.
OUR AC WENT OUT! During a heatwave, with dinner guests, with out-of-town-family, on a holiday, after regular business hours, we noticed that the heat from our dinner preparations was not dissipating and then quickly discovered the actual sad situation.
The indoor temp was in the eighties when we went to bed Monday night. Luckily Scott was already scheduled to go home the next day. We figured it was too hot to eat at home Tuesday morning so we treated the kids to
IHOP. I spent the rest of that day and the next
avoiding my hot house (mall, library, Barnes & Nobel, friends homes).
