To grow up or not grow up?

The other day, when Lizzie refused to brush her teeth, I told her if she didn't brush them they would fall out (inappropriate, I know).

She said, "But I want them to fall out. I want grown up teeth."

On the other hand, when I tell her that she needs to eat growing food or she won't grow (I actually probably said something inappropriate and untrue like "you'll stay little forever"), she explained that she doesn't want to grow up and that she wants to be a little kid forever.

I forgot how fun these things are:

Six months old!

I can't believe how quickly the last six months have gone. Too quickly.
Alaina is just delightful. She is smiling and sometimes even laughing (an odd sounding laugh--like she's trying not to laugh). She still enjoys chewing her thumb, sucking on and licking her tag blanket, and recently, playing hide and seek. She seems to have already realized that Andrew is more playful than me. She gets all wiggly and excited when he approaches her, like she's anticipating the tickles. Likes: playing with her feet, sitting on my hip, Binky, baths, her sister, her duck, tummy kisses, holding onto my bean necklace, peek-a-boo
Dislikes: waiting to eat
Lainey had her 6 month well check today. She weighs 13 pounds, 10 ounces which is 10%. A month ago she was 30% or 25%. The change may be from being so sick in February. I knew she was small, but I was still a little surprised. I thought, 10%? But her thighs are so big. Anyway, totally healthy, no issues, the weight is not a concern. I'm so grateful for a healthy baby.

The Game

The other day Lizzie came up with a game to play with Drew.

It was pretty much to "20 questions" except that when it's the boy's turn to guess the girl doesn't give him any clues.

Liz explained, "the boy just has to guess what the girl is thinking."

Drew said "Argh. You already sound like a woman."

4th Photo

I was tagged to do the 4th photo from the 4th file (awhile ago--I'm slow). Here's Lizzie playing with her friend, Jordan roughly five years ago: They were born just a month apart and started having "playdates" shortly thereafter. Jordan used to steal Lizzie's pacifier (as seen in photo) and Lizzie used to pull Jordan's hair. They still play together so, just for fun, here are the same little girls now:

Sweets and British parties

I feel like the main thing I did this past weekend is eat sweets. Tomorrow I'm going to have to readjust to a normal diet.

Friday night we went out with our good friends the Davis' and after a delicious dinner and fabulous conversation, Jessica gave me a plate of pistachio, orange, chocolate cookies. Delicious. I ate half for breakfast the following morning and then ate the rest when Andrew gave me the go-ahead to only save him one.

Saturday afternoon Liz went to a birthday party and since she is almost as picky with her sweets as she is with regular food Drew and I got to split all the candy in her goody bag.

Next I went to a baby shower for my VT, Ivy. Lemon cream puffs, stuffed mushrooms, bags of candy, sour cream and brown sugar fruit dip. Yum.

Saturday evening we went to a party to celebrate our friend, Mike's acceptance to Oxford. Again, sweets and lots of them. Chocolate fountain, cake, cupcakes, candy, soda. Again, yum.

Finally, when we picked up Lizzie from the babysitter--my other amazing VT, Carrie--Liz left with a plate of the cookies they had made together. Naturally I had gobs of cookies for breakfast Sunday morning. Delish.

The following are shots from the Oxford party: Drew and I wanted to dress "British." Mostly we wanted bad teeth. We could only find stuff for Drew (Austin Powers wig, glasses, and teeth). I thought he looked pretty funny. We also brought Mike and Janie a bag of British food which included a can of "spotted dick."
A sampling of Janie's amazing cake decorating skills.
