Sandy Point Beach

Last weekend we went to Sandy Point Beach (in Maryland's Sandy Point State Park). It was our first time doing a day trip to the beach as a family. Every other time we've stayed overnight (OBX, San Diego, Myrtle Beach). As we packed our beach bags, Lizzie kept asking to pack stuffed animals for the hotel. The beach was a lot of fun. We went with our friends, the Bahlmans, and after laying in the sand for half a day they joined us at Cafe Rio for an early dinner. We had gone the day before and recieved free meal bounce back passes that had to be used Saturday. Ordinarily I wouldn't make the trek two days in a row (and wait in the monsterous line), but I couldn't pass up a free meal. Cafe Rio was fun. The food was tastey and it brought back many memories of our courtship and early married years. We joked about going to "Movies Eight for $.50 night" afterwards. Sidenote: back when we did go to Movies Eight we weres "poor, starving students" so I often paid in pennies that I had counted out and put in individual baggies. At such times Andrew either insisted on purchasing his own ticket separately or he stood far away from me while I handed over a baggie of 100 pennies for the both of us.At Cafe Rio we played "spot the Mormons." It wasn't too hard--there were lots of young couples with babies, women with long shorts and sleeved shirts, missionaries, and even some BYU paraphenalia, not to mention we ran into four couples/families from our current and former wards. Also last weekend: we lit off some of our fireworks (leftover from Myrtle Beach) at our monthly Friday-night-neighborhood block party. It feels like we still have gobs left. We definetly have a lot of sparklers left and our girls are all too afraid to play with them.
