Last Week, a.k.a. First free/open week of summer

Last week was our first free/open week meaning Lizzie didn't have any prescheduled morning activities (like VBS and swim class). Still we kept very busy (maybe too busy) and had lots of fun with outings and playdates.

Monday - Chuck E Cheese in the morning with four of our old "Monday playgroup" families (two of whom just recently moved back to the states); playdate with Talia in the afternoon (for Lizzie). Tuesday - Lizzie playdate with Rayna & Ella in the morning, Fiesta at the library in the afternoon, sleepover with Taryn in the evening.

Wednesday - kids movie at Kingstowne theater in the morning with a group of friends, lunch and a playdate with our movie friends (Emily, Madison, Jordan, & Taryn) in the afternoon, then pottery class for Liz.Thursday - Dentist visits for Liz and Laines in the morning (Lizzie did well, Alaina was initally excited but got scared started shouted "I not a big girl! I not a big girl!" when she saw Lizzie getting x-rays). After that lunch with daddy, then straight to Pirates Cove water park with our same Monday playdate pals that we saw a movie with the day before.

Friday - show at the planetarium in the morning with my friend, Kristen, and her kids (it was Sesame street so Alaina LOVED it, even Ellie watched most of it), in the afternoon a playdate for Lizzie with Claire.Saturday - I had big plans to take the kids to the Corcoran or the Friendship Firehouse and maybe even to the Kennedy Center's Millenium stage in the evening but I was just too worn out from the week, so, instead, I shuttled Lizzie to and from a couple birthday parties and went shopping for her school supplies and school clothes (tax free baby!).

Sunday - our regular routine of church and home, but in the evening Andrew said he wanted to take the girls on a drive. I told them to put on their jammies and to pick one special thing to take with them in the van (like a pillow or a stuffed animal) just in case they fell asleep (as we hoped they would). Along with her p.j.'s Lainey donned two hats and some pumpkin slippers. Her special thing? Her box of underwear (she called it her "under box").

Love that Alaina and her under box, and the dentist comment! So funny and adorable!

Jill you are such a fun Mom. I enjoy following your blog, and seeing the fun things you and your girls are up to. So good to see you last night.
